1. Who is NJDPHH® for?
As the name suggests, NJDPHH® is primarily for working deaf professionals in the Tri-State area. Since the passage of ADA
and other disability-related legislation, more deaf people have access to higher education and are entering the professional workforce. Many are attorneys, business owners, government employees, accountants and more.

2. Is DPHH® for NTID alumni only?
While DPHH®'s roots are from the NTID Alumni Association, DPHH® has been open to all local deaf professionals for many years.

3. Are hearing people allowed to attend NJDPHH®?
YES, hearing people are encouraged to attend. Many sign language interpreters and other hearing professionals who enjoy attending NJDPHH® event as it is an opportunity to meet old and new friends and to improve their signing skills. If you are not a signer, you may want to bring a friend as the NJDPHH® environment can sometimes be overwhelming!

4. Are out of town people welcome to NJDPHH®?
YES, NJDPHH® is a popular event and is attended by people from all Tri-State and all over the world.


5. Who organizes NJDPHH®?
NJDPHH® events are organized by the NJDPHH® host.

6. When are NJDPHH® events announced?
We will send a notification approximately 5-7 days before the event, usually on the Monday before the 3rd or 4th Friday/Saturday of the month.

7. How are NJDPHH® locations chosen?
The NJDPHH® host solicits recommendations from NJDPHH® attendees. We make sure the location is near a Metro station and is large enough for at least 200 attendees. We also choose a variety of purely of entertainment well-dress place regarding of upscale lounges, sports bars, and nightclubs. We understand and respect that it is difficult to satisfy different preferences.

8. Will NJDPHH® events be accessible via train station?
YES, NJDPHH® events will always be located near a train station.

9. What time do people arrive?
NJDPHH® attendees start to arrive at around
8 pm.

10. Will NJDPHH® locations and bartenders be deaf-friendly?
NJDPHH® host informs the management at each venue about our event. We also encourage that bartenders be sensitive to unique communication needs and that they have paper and pen ready for deaf patrons.

11. Will NJDPHH® locations be accessible to people with disabilities?
We expect that the majority of locations will be accessible to wheelchair users. To the extent possible, we look for well-lit locations to accommodate those with visual disabilities. In some cases, we ask management to not dim the lights.

13. How can I support NJDPHH®?
Buy a drink and give tips! Be sure to also thank bartenders for their sensitivity and for welcoming NJDPHH® members! Be appreciative of and thankful for the NJDPHH®! Also, we need your feedback to ensure that we are doing our best to accommodate the various preferences and needs of our community!

14. Why is tipping important?
If you want a good service by the bartenders, then give good tips. They will serve you better than others to seek more tipping from you.
